flight of the butterfly, rising free
For just a few moments
He wandered in the dark
Lost and alone
Cold, scared and stark
Where infinity meets the human mind
There the stark reality of the unseen thoughts prevails
Time and space folding into oblivion
A glance at the eternal corners of creation’s origin
From the ashes,
I have risen,
watered by your living love.
From the burnt wasteland
of so many yesterdays,
I find the hope
in your constant bright light.
Return me to pure darkness,
burn me to the core;
fill me with your holy fire,
cleanse me in your terrible ire.
The wickedness of youth –
lead me back to there.
Fill my heart with misery,
flood me in despair.
Return to me, oh God.
Return me, too, to you –
extinguished in the waters of life,
rising once again.
